I found a puddle of Prestone under my wife's 2007 Edge this morning. It looks as if it's coming from the pump weep hole. Ordered the pump for 97 bucks and the Chiltons for 24. Chiltons states you need to remove the entire engine to replace the water pump. I can do that, but can't take two days off for it.
Any suggestions? This is the first problem with this car in 7 years and 130k miles.

All I can say is I feel for you. I was told years ago that the 'Edge is one of the worst vehicles for water pump replacement due to its design'. A local independent shop told me plan on spending $1500 for repair if it goes. That would make it nearly a $2400-$3000 expense at a dealer. Good luck.

IK its a old thread, but yea the 3.5/3.7 has a bad design as far as replacement of the w/p + the issue you'd have if you don't replace it. At least it has two O-rings gaskets & a water trough on the outside of the inner O-ring gasket. A little tighter working on the Edge/MKX vs a Flex/Tarsus....
