I've always heard people say the clutch is one of the most expensive parts to replace on a car. So my queston is does anyone know what "burning the clutch" in the car is doing? and how can I do my best to prevent this?

Thanks!

Gringing the gears, holding your clutch for a long time like at lights, people who try to "Feather" their clutch (like drag racing)(Feather, half way holding clutch).

Things like that.

If you just drive normally and don't zip around town with quick gear changes and off the line dropping clutch time, you should be fine.

The BIG killer IMO is when people hold their car on a hill with the clutch half engaged. Thats what the brakes are for, and that is VERY hard on a clutch.

all above are true. also it is alot cheaper to relpace a manual tranny's clutch then to chagne the clutches in an automatic.
