Hey now. That looks good Les. I haven't seen them here. I wonder how it stacks up as a downsize from an F-150? I really don;t need all the F-150 more than once or twice a year. If you could get a sheet of plywood in that it would likely be a useful little truck. I'll be following this thread.
I used to have a pickup for years for those hauling jobs. Then as time went by I was using it less and less. Then bought a SUV that was right at the time. With my projects at my property a bed would be very useful again. I really can’t find many negative comments about it. Yea, it’s new so not many out there. It’s based on a beefed up Escape chassis with I’ve owned two and actually liked. My wife is already searching dealer inventory.
I priced it up here on Ford.ca. $26,000 for the base model. I priced an XLT with 4000 towing and all wheel drive and was out the door at $41,000. That is not EVERY option but had the dash electronics upgrade and a sun roof. Damn good deal for a new truck. I am liking the eco boost option. I'm not in the market right now as we just got a new vehicle for my wife. I'll be looking to change up the truck in 4 years so it will definitely be on the radar then.
I’ve owned several eco boost equipped vehicles, Taurus SHO, Escape and two Edges. Always had good luck. Normally don’t buy first year models as at times there’s engineering issues that go unknown at first. Might do it this time, as chassis and engine is time tested. Several years ago wife and I came to an understanding that we would have at least one car note. We normally wait till we are right side up and keep her in a new vehicle. We are more than right side up on her Edge, so it’s time. Keeping her in a newer vehicle I never have to do repair, I like that.
I had an eco-boost in a truck I rented to drive up north on vacation. Full sized F-150. It hustled that truck along like my 5.0 Coyote does. I was REALLY impressed. I wouldn't hesitate to buy that engine. The only thing for a die hard pick up guy to get over is the unibody construction. A body on frame configuration is gonna be stronger. That said, if you are looking for a work truck that is gonna need to take some abuse you are likely going F150 anyway. This is a great platform for weekend warriors who just need to go to Home Depot or the dump every now and then.
Went to dealer yesterday with full intentions of buying a Maverick. There's not any Mavericks for sale due to demand. Special order for 2022 models shut down and 2023 pre-order not really open yet. You can order, but no time for delivery, dealer said might be in the 9 to 12 month window. So, on to plan B, whatever that might be.
I really tried to get a deal on a Maverick. Search across all close states and struck out. Every dealer wanted me to order a 2023 with no pricing available or delivery window. That's not how I do business. I'm still trying to figure out which way to go.
