How light are these older fiestas? Could be a nice fixer-upper / Race car with a new engine. Reminds me of the Mark II VW.

I'll have to spend some time and find more specs.
I know they were pretty light, and even the low compression/emissions laden 1.6L in the early 80's pushed that little car along pretty good.

I think it'd make a pretty good and inexpensive AutoCross car. [thumb]

Good point. I hadn't thought about that before.
But then again, when I think of Dodge Omni, I think of the GLH model...Goes Like Hell! [:D]
I had the utmost respect for that vehicle at the time.

My first car was almost a black over tan GLH. I probably would've bought it for 4K back in '93 if it weren't for the crack vinyl dashboard and missing doorhandles on the rear doors.

I actually dig it ... I would drive that and pimp it out also.

^^^You bet!
They're getting kind of hard to find anymore though.
I think it's great that the new Fiesta has sparked all this interest in the old Fiesta.

That is actually really cool looking! That would look cool as hell with fender flares and wide wheels/tires.

The Fiesta came out around the same time I got mi license, but when I was 16, I was only interested in Fords with big V-8's. I had no interest in small cars.

I used to have one. We got it for free from a local used car dealership that the propane tank (for the building) blew up at. We ended up using it as a field bomber and a really fun play car! this car was such a blast to drive.... it ended up dieing after trying to jump it once or twice in the sand pits behind my uncles house!! it was a great little car!
